Beach, Downtown, or BOTH...your choice!
Route now includes more of downtown Santa Barbara, including the Presidio of Santa Barbara, parks, and Santa Barbara City College.
For those who still prefer a "beach walk," the previous trail that walks out and back along the Pacific Ocean-West Beach, Palm Chase Park, Stearns Wharf, and East Beach-is still available.
Going up and down the hill to the Community College makes the primary route very difficult for wheelchairs. Those participants should consider the alternate beach route because of its safety feature.

Santa Cruz Island, CA
One of the most unique walks ANYWHERE! Take a catamaran out to Santa Cruz Island and become one with unspoiled nature.
For an all-day trip to Santa Cruz Island, the largest island in Channel Islands National Park, make reservations for the boat ride at Island Packers by phone at (805) 642-1393.
You will need to pay by credit card over the phone to secure your spot. Round-trip adult fee is currently $59, $54 for a senior.
The walk begins with a 22-mile boat trip aboard the Island Packers’ catamaran, The Islander. The catamaran has a galley on board for food and beverages as well as restroom facilities.
Check with Island Packers for departure times and days—April to October you can hike 7 days a week, but November through March the trip is only available Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The catamaran trip is part of the adventure since dolphins inhabit the channel and California Gray whales can be seen from December to late March.
Upon arrival, Park Rangers give an orientation. Allow enough time to hike the route from Scorpion Bay to Smuggler’s Cove and enjoy the views, flora and fauna in a place where nature remains intact. Return before the boat departs.
